In this episode we discuss Peter's long and storied theater career, moaning on stage, Jerzy Grutowsk, his love of poetry, plays he has written, Tommy Lee Jones, Broadway and much more!!
In Episode #13 Dave and Ed begin an enthralling conversation with veteran stage and screen actor Peter Maloney. In eloquent fashion Maloney describes growing up in Western New York in the 40's/50's, being a Broadway actor in the 60's, and working as a casting director on "Bonnie and Clyde" which led to a lovely Arabic dining experience with Warren Beatty and Gene Hackman. We also discuss the unflinching masculinity of Ben Gazzara, the moment Sylvester Stallone confided in the cynical Maloney about his oeuvre "Rocky" and acting in John Carpenter's cult classic "The Thing."
In part 2 Peter talks about jumping naked into a jacuzzi with James Caan and Danny Aiello, his days living in Los Angeles as a working actor and playing the role of Colonel Fink in Oliver Stone's 1991 masterpiece JFK. We chat about Mr Stone's brilliance and his wonderful respect for his actors. We ask Peter if he believes the mainstream JFK assassination narrative. He reveals that Darren Aronovsky's parents used to make sandwiches for Darren during filming of the cult classic Requiem for a Dream and how the cast reacted to seeing Jared Leto's arm being amputated. We also discuss working on Summer of Sam with Spike Lee not long after a dreadful rollerblading accident in Central Park that resulted in Peter breaking his arm.
Peter Maloney's acting credits include movies like John Carpenter's "The Thing," "Summer of Sam," "Requiem for a Dream," Howard Stern's "Private Parts," "Boiler Room," and "JFK," as well as TV shows like "Gotham" and "Rescue Me." Maloney has also performed in dozens of theater productions, such as "Outside Mullingar," "Glengarry Glen Ross," and others. A resident of Cold Spring, Maloney is currently completing a memoir about his extensive acting career, which has spanned decades.
