Episode 57 - Kate Pinchuck and Ryan Harduth

The Almost Perfect Podcast

It's a two for one special on this episode of The Almost Perfect Podcast.  Kate Pinchuck is a comedian, actor, writer, and teacher, and Ryan Harduth calls himself a "comedy uncle" but really he's one of the people behind the scenes getting a lot of comedians on TV and stages around the country. I was meant to chat to them separately but things didn't work out that way so instead, the three of us waffled on about comedy and life over some waffles.  In this conversation, we dig into the differences between acting and comedy, we look at the highs and lows of being a comedian in SA today (as well as get a little history lesson), we discuss getting broken up with via text, and we touch on ADD and mental health.  https://almostperfect.co.za/ep-57-kate-pinchuck-ryan-harduth/

Ryan Harduth [Comedy Producer]

Lesser Known Somebodies

I speak to full-time coffee shop owner and part-time Trevor Noah producer/promoter/friend Ryan Harduth. Hear why people consider Ryan the "joke whisperer" and how we speak about the South African comedy industry. More importantly, though, hear how Ryan gives me some of the best advice about my comedy career and leaves me speechless because it was so truthful.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Episode 5 - Ryan Harduth: The business of comedy; finger pistols, and people cancelling

The Phil Monty

Ryan Harduth is a comedy producer and one of the most important people in the business. He's the guy that every comic wants to be on good terms with. While there are a few producers and agents that specialise in managing comedians, Ryan is undoubtedly the closest to the artists he works with. He's the quiet, thoughtful guy at the back of the comedy club that watches your set and can tell you what you need to improve your art. He genuinely cares about his artists and every move he makes is always in the interest of building them. Over the last 10 years he's been instrumental in launching the careers of dozens of local comedians, he's produced 4 of Trevor Noah's specials, he appeared in the 2018 documentary In Stiches, and also produced the Nationwild showcase (check it out on Showmax...episode 10...that's mine).
