Ep. 79: Vernor Vinge, A Fire upon the Deep

SCIFI SNAK

A Fire upon the Deep er første bog i serien “Zones of Thought.” Scifi-forfatteren Jo Walton skrev om A Fire upon the Deep: “Any one of the ideas in A Fire Upon the Deep would have kept an ordinary writer going for years.” Jens og Anders har SCIFI Snakket “A Fire upon the Deep.” Shownotes: Anders fortalte om robotter i populærkultur i Kulturen på P1 ifm 100~års jubilæum for R.U.R – https://www.dr.dk/radio/p1/kulturen-pa-p1/kulturen-pa-p1-2021-01-11/01:07:31Anders har set Midnight Sky af og med George Clooney på Netflix…Næste måneds bog: Anders valgte “The Doomsday Book” af Connie Willis – første bog i serien Oxford Time Travel, hvorfra vi også har læst “To say nothing of the Dog” Indlægget Ep. 79: Vernor Vinge, A Fire upon the Deep blev først udgivet på SCIFI SNAK.

Transhumanist Sci-Fi Discussion: A Fire Upon the Deep by Vernor Vinge

Canonical

Is A Fire upon the Deep actually a posthumanist text?  Would we advocate for a genocide of the Skroderiders? Is a philosophical novel more convincing when portrayed in a realist or a sci-fi novel?  Will these questions never end?  It sure doesn't seem like it in this longer than usual episode.  Enjoy! This is the second novel in our Transhumanist Sci-Fi series. Want to talk about A Fire Upon the Deep?
