How To Achieve Financial Freedom in The Military with Rich Carey and Doug Nordman!
The Military Millionaire Podcast
Episode: 131 Rich Carey and Doug Nordman Join your hosts, David Pere and Alex Felice, with guests Doug Nordman and Rich Cary as they talk about investing and asset allocations during the pandemic. While in the military, Rich paid off $230k for a mortgage. Now, he's acquired a fourplex and six-plex during the pandemic as an addition to his properties. Later, Doug shares a story on getting a 529 account for a granddaughter and explains what it teaches about picking an asset allocation that one can live with personally. For Doug, everything flows, first and foremost, out of figuring out what one can tolerate in an asset allocation. In this episode, listen as they also throw in their two cents on scaling and managing properties and what they hold as personal opinions on what 'sure money' truly is, especially for service members. About Doug Nordman and Rich Cary: Retired at age 41 after 20 years with the U.S. Navy's submarine force, today Doug Nordman is an enthusiastic surfer, an omnivorous reader, a martial arts student, and a veteran of many chaotic home-improvement projects. With his retired Navy Reserve spouse, they raised their daughter in Hawaii. Rich believes that conservative investing is superior to aggressive tactics. He's been successful with conservative index fund real estate investing. Rich currently owns 30 units, with 20 single-family homes paid off. He has served 20 years as a Special Agent in the Air Force (similar to NCIS). After retiring from the United States Air Force, he is now living in Montgomery, Alabama, where all of his properties are located. - Sponsor: The War Room Real Estate Mastermind Group: Email firstname.lastname@example.org to apply! Buying 20 Rentals With Cash: How Rich Carey Has Achieved Financial Freedom!
The Military Millionaire Podcast
Episode: 71 Rich is currently in the United States Air Force living in Montgomery, Alabama one year from retirement. He served 19 years as a Special Agent in the Air Force (similar to NCIS). He has worked with embassies all over the world, and had the chance to work closely with NATO, the UN, and even negotiate peace treaties. Rich is now an instructor at a military school finishing up the last year of my career. He has been interested in real estate and investment ever since I was a child. He worked at Fidelity Investments as a stockbroker in college and has devoured most finance and real estate books out there. He plans to direct his effort to full-time real estate investing as well as finance and real estate education for the military community once he’s retired. To round it out, Rich travels a lot and when he went to Japan, he flipped about 8 houses with a partner. 2013, he moved to Montgomery, Alabama for air command staff college. He bought 6 houses and left to spend 5 years overseas and bought 14 more. All 20 houses are paid off. In this episode, Rich talks about what helped him buy all 20 houses in just a few years, how he was able to pay cash for all of them and some financial advice for people joining the military. - Recommended resource(s): Fooled by Randomness - You can reach out to them here: www.richonmoney.com firstname.lastname@example.org Sponsors: Real Estate Investing Course: https://military-millionaire-academy.teachable.com/p/from-zero-to-one-real-estate-investing-101 Audible: https://www.frommilitarytomillionaire.com/audible/ Recommended books and tools: https://www.frommilitarytomillionaire.com/kit/ - SUBSCRIBE: https://bit.ly/2Q3EvfE - Website: https://www.frommilitarytomillionaire.com/start-here/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/frommilitarytomillionaire/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/militarymillionaire/ - My name is David Pere, I am an active duty Marine, and have realized that service members and the working class use the phrase "I don't get paid enough" entirely too often. How I Bought 20 Rental Properties in Cash - with Rich Carey
Marriage Kids and Money
Real estate investor Rich Carey shares how be bought 20 rental properties in cash while serving in the military abroad. He shares how real estate made him a millionaire and how you can buy your first buy-and-hold rental unit in cash too.
Rich Carey is the creator of the RichOnMoney blog and known for investing in rental properties debt free. Rich is a very thoughtful person, and breaks down investing principles in a very straightforward and strategic way that we can all learn a lot from.
Rich owns 20 rental homes free and clear and he did it on a military salary! This episode is filled with some great advice from Air Force member (Investor/Blogger/etc.) Rich Carey, who will retire financially independent in 2020 after turning from Wall Street to service for his country. Rich shocked me when he said, "military members should NEVER buy a house at their duty station" (with one caveat). Does he really think owning a home free and clear is the best way to go? What does he think about single-family versus multi-units? What's his advice if you're broke with no credit? What's his advice if you have $100K to invest? How the heck does he manage remotely? https://richonmoney.com/ "Buy Me A Boat" by Chris Janson and "God Bless the USA" by Lee Greenwood are used here courtesy of the artists and their publishers.
