Peyton Manning, Legendary NFL Quarterback – Be guided by authenticity

How Leaders Lead with David Novak

Today’s guest hardly needs an introduction because joining me is legendary quarterback Peyton Manning. After his extraordinary career in the NFL, Peyton is now succeeding in the business world – leading his own production house, bourbon brand, charitable foundation … I mean, is there anything this guy can’t do!? But here’s what I really love about Peyton: no matter what he does, he leads with authenticity. He doesn’t feel like he has to know all the answers in these new ventures. He’s comfortable asking questions and getting his team on board to figure out solutions. That authenticity also helps him know when to say yes to an opportunity – and when to pass when it doesn’t work for him and his family. In fact, he decided against a traditional broadcast career for that very reason.Instead, he and his brother Eli host the “Manningcast,” which is an alternate live broadcast of Monday Night Football with famous guests and lots of candid conversations. It’s creating a TON of buzz and even took home a Sports Emmy. People are drawn to the authenticity in the Manningcast and in Peyton’s leadership style. That’s why it’s so darn important for us to learn from leaders who aren’t afraid to be themselves. So here is my conversation with my good friend…and soon to be yours…Peyton Manning.

Tales from the Vault: Hall of Fame QB Peyton Manning (1997)

NFL Films: Tales From The Vault

Host Andrea Kremer takes us back to 1997 when NFL Films Steve Sabol interviewed Hall of Famer Peyton Manning and his father, Archie Manning. Peyton talks about growing up with his brothers while their Dad was playing in the NFL. The interview highlights the interesting dynamic between a football father and son and examines how Archie put more value in his relationship with his sons rather than trying to be their coach. Peyton gives insight to his decision to finish his college career before heading to the NFL, even after consulting several NFL QB's who often told him that they would leave school. Steve also asks Peyton what he learned from watching Archie as a professional football player and what were some of the favorite plays he watched his Dad make in the NFL.The Tales from the Vault podcast is part of the NFL Podcast Network. Big Ben is Just Like Peyton Manning, Browns Have a Baker Mayfield Problem & More Transfer Portal Drama

Straight Fire with Jason McIntyre

On today's episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on what was likely Ben Roethlisberger's final home game as the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. Big Ben was mostly ineffective as a passer, but he did just enough to win the game. It was eerily similar to how Peyton Manning looked during his final season with the Denver Broncos. Now, Ben's Steelers won't win a Super Bowl like Peyton's Broncos did, but you get the point. On the flip side, Baker Mayfield was bad and his team lost. Mayfield has clearly regressed as a quarterback this season and it's hard to believe the Browns won't be looking for a potential replacement this offseason. One quarterback who could make sense for Cleveland is Las Vegas Raiders' starter Derek Carr. Carr has navigated a tumultuous season in Vegas and actually has his team in position to make the playoffs if they can get a win this Sunday. However, noted Raiders fan Producer Rob G still isn't so sure that the the Silver and Black should absolutely bring Carr back to the team in 2022. It's definitely a situation that should be monitored. Finally, the guys close the show with a deep dive into Caleb Williams' decision to leave the Oklahoma Sooners and enter the transfer portal. The transfer portal is something that should be embraced by college football fans, not chastised. If the Average Joe can enjoy the freedom to do whatever makes him happy then why can't a college athlete do the same?
