#36 - MATT GIORDANO - International Yoga Teacher and Teacher Trainer

Honestly Unbalanced

World renowned yoga instructor, Matt Giordano (@theyogimatt) gives credit to an influential figure from his teenage years--his high school art teacher-- for sparking within him the curiosity and tenacity that eventually led him to yoga. It was Eileen Walk who told Giordano: "You are not allowed to say 'I can’t.' You must rephrase to a question: 'How?" That inquisitive and unrelenting spirit laid the foundation for Matt to begin a devoted yoga practice. When coupled with his passion to understand anatomy, biomechanics and the deeper philosophical and meditative practices for the mind, Matt’s path as a teacher came into focus. Matt has a unique talent of taking a complex, challenging concept and simplifying without taking away its potency. This approach provides the revelatory "aha moments" that many of his students rave about.WHAT WE CHAT ABOUT-Starting days at 4am-Sleeping on city park benches to owning a farm-Reaching burnout from the ‘NYC grind’-Building an Instagram following-The reality of being a travelling yogi-Making money as a yoga teacher-Practicing self awareness-Discovering meditation in an unexpected place-Falling in and out of love with yoga10% off Liforme yoga mats with code THEHUSLERS (we get commission)Code HonestlyUnbalanced30 gets 30% off any packages on thehuslers.com online yoga, meditation and sound platform.

Child's Pose Episode 1: Teaching Yoga Online with Matt Giordano

Child's Pose

On this episode Michael talks to Matt Giordano about his journey with yoga and his personal inspirations, as well as discussing best practice and support for teachers who are moving their students out of the studio and into the digital world.  Matt travels internationally to teach Chromatic Yoga, a systematic approach to teaching that provides a highly intentional and well structured experience for students to cultivate awareness of their body and mind. Matt is known for his ability to guide students deeply into postures with his refined attention to detail and precise action cues, teaching at festivals, workshops and in his weekly studio classes. His study of biomechanics and integrative mind-body techniques inform his teaching, as he draws upon wisdom from traditions of yoga, martial arts (Aikido and Tae Kwan Do), acrobatics, AcroYoga and Thai Yoga Massage.  The craving for knowledge amongst students and teachers lead Matt to create theyogimatt.com a website and resource for yoga, mind and body.
