Lee Nailon: Escaping the Quicksand

You wanna talk about grind? Lee Nailon is one of the very few success stories to come out of South Bend, Indiana. South Bend is known for being a hotbed for basketball, but it's also a place where some "get caught in the quicksand" because most don’t make it out. But Lee did, and if you think it was an easy road then you’re wrong.

After taking the Junior College route, he made a name for himself at TCU where he was instantly one of the top college basketball players. He was a wide, left-handed, power forward with a feathery mid-range jumper who could take dudes off the dribble. After two years of Division I basketball and earning the WAC Player of the Year, Nailon was drafted #42 by the Charlotte Hornets in the second round of the 1999 NBA Draft. He played six years in the NBA before going overseas where he was the top scorer as well as MVP for the Israeli League. He also played in the Big3. Not bad for a kid coming out of South Bend, Indiana who was told he would never make it.

Nailon is one of the most gracious and real people we have ever spoken with and he is an absolute open-book. We learned so much from him in this episode and there is no doubt that you will have a completely different appreciation for him and his career. The best part is that Lee isn’t done yet, in fact he might just be getting started. He is currently working with kids and making a difference with young men both on and off the court. Believe me when we say whoever gets the opportunity to learn from Lee is very lucky to have him in their corner.

Thank you Lee!
