Google Product Launch Hot Takes with Jefferson Graham of USA Today and Eric Schwartz of Voicebot - Voicebot Podcast Ep 171

Play
Read more
Today I have another extra episode for you to discuss the announcements from Google's 2020 Fall product launch. We knew in advance that we would finally see a replacement for the Google Home which was launched four long years ago. The Nest Audio is that replacement as the flagship smart speaker for Google.    Other than that, we were expecting a new Pixel smartphone, which we did see, and a new Chromecast, which also made an appearance. There wasn't much for the voice industry to sink their teeth into in terms of advances but I wanted to give you an update on what we did see and offer the perspectives of a couple of other event observers.    To maintain consistency, I also asked Jefferson Graham of USA Today and Eric Schwartz of Voicebot.ai to join me. They were both on the recent episode focused on the Amazon product launch so we are getting their hot takes today in contrast to what we saw from Amazon. Jefferson Graham is the leading consumer tech reporter in the U.S. and Eric Schwartz is the lead reporter at Voicebot.

Eric chats with Sierra about how short discomfort can lead to long-time good a la cold showers and how you feel inside vs. how you present outside. He recommends the book CAN'T HURT ME by David Goggins. They also chat about the concept of worldwide celebrity (blegh Tr*mp, the anti-celebrity) vs. how now EVERYONE can be a celebrity. (Yes, even you!) They also chat about the importance of celebrating small wins to pump up to that big one! And we get it! Eric loves to run! We conclude that Eric needs to flip his house so his door opens inward and that will solve all of our problems. The End! Check out Eric's podcast, Podcast The Musical! Shaping our Future Athletic Trainers - Tanya Dargusch, ATC & Eric Schwartz, MS, ATC

Play
Read more
We as ATs have a very important duty.  If we want the future of our profession to be even better than we have it currently, we must provide effective and impactful mentorship for the athletic trainers of the future. There is a purposeful approach to this.  It's always going to be a valuable conversation when you combine a conversation with an NATA Hall of Famer, a former ATSNJ President, and host Ryan Stevens!  Ryan had the opportunity to sit down with Tanya Dargusch, LAT, ATC and Eric Schwartz, MS, LAT, ATC, who collaborate as the two athletic trainers serving Washington Township High School in New Jersey. It is no secret Tanya and Eric have done an outstanding job in mentoring future athletic trainers through preceptor affiliations with Rowan University and a successful Washington Township High School Student Aide program. We get deep into it in this episode!

Tanya Dargusch, a graduate of Central Michigan University, has been Washington Township's AT since 1988. Before arriving at WTHS, she was one of the pioneers of industrial athletic training with her work at Walbro Corporation.  Highly involved in many NATA committees and special interest initiatives throughout her career, Tanya is a nationally know public speaker in AT. She has many amazing accolades, including being a member of the NATA Hall of Fame, the NJ State Scholastic Coaches Association Hall of Fame, and ATSNJ Hall of Fame.  She is a winner of the NATA Service Award, EATA Scholastic Athletic Trainer Award, and the ATSNJ Distinguished Service Award,

Eric Schwartz, a graduate of East Stroudsberg University and The College of New Jersey, has been an AT at Washington Township since 2011.  A former ATSNJ President, Eric has been honored with the NATA Athletic Trainer Service award, ATSNJ Distinguished Service Award, and the NJSIAA Service Award. Also highly active in our profession, Eric has previously served on the Executive Council, Governmental Affairs, Secondary School, and Public Relations committees of the ATSNJ. He currently serves as the president of the NJ Athletic Training Political Action Committee board of directors.
