Should We Start Fires? (Featuring Chris Giesige and Alan Peterson)
Professor Dave Debates
Whether you live in Southern California like me, or somewhere else, you may be aware of all the fires we keep getting down here. What's the deal with those, and what can we do to prevent them? Are prescribed burns a good idea? In other words, should we deliberately start fires? Let's talk about this with wildfire expert Chris Giesige! There's a lot to learn regarding the history of wildfires, and steps we need to take in the present to work and live with fire. Moderator Alan Peterson joins us, and there is much fun to be had. I feel like I should start with an apology because this recording had so much quality I had to take out just to get it close to thirty minutes. I give all the credit to Alan whose a man and a comic who is all about vulnerability. There's nothing we can't talk about on stage and off and there's nothing we didn't talk about. Alan was one of the two people I met when I first walked into The Fourth Wall to do my first open mic in a new venue and from that moment I've always been so happy to catch up when I see him at a mic. In this conversation we talk about being considered an Uncle Tom even when you're white, the struggles of being an individual even when you're wrong, and (of course) Granny Porn.
Tonight's episode we talk to the recently resigned Munford High Football Coach J.R. Kirby about his decision to leave the program. We also discuss changes in Tennessee hunting regulations as well as the return of cougars with TWRA's Dr. Alan Peterson. Also, Jeff Ireland updates us on post-season high school baseball, and the Thunder beat the Warriors to steal home court. It's Adam & Chad, in full force, from U.S. 51 Country 93.5 FM!
