The Difference Between Hope & Despair Is a Story with Krish Kandiah
Some stories are a way of making sense of the world. Life can seem confusing or random, so we fit all the details into a story to help us figure out what’s going on. That’s useful, as long as we’re telling beautiful, compassionate, loving stories. But sometimes, lazy stories get told that write off other people’s experiences with prejudice or stereotypes. That’s something Krish Kandiah is out to change. He is the Founder and Director of the adoption and fostering charity Home for Good, and he wants to make sure that the kids in the adoption and foster care systems aren’t abandoned to bad stories. There’s so much we all can learn from his work as storytellers, and he has some incredible stories of his own. Listen in on this week's episode of the Story Podcast.
Dr Krish Kandiah is toady's guest on the Generation Podcast. David chats with Krish about the new "Hong Kong Ready" initiative he is leading that aims to support migrants from Hong Kong to settle in the UK. The UK Government has opened a new route from 31st January for people in Hong Kong with a British National Overseas (BNO) passport to come and settle in the UK. A large proportion of those applying also identify as Christian, the initiative will also help those arriving plug into a local church. Krish is the Founder and CEO of Home for Good – a charity seeking to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable children by finding loving homes for children in the care system. He is an advocate for fostering and adoption, has written several books and is a regular contributor to the Times, the Guardian and also a regular broadcaster on BBC Radio 4 and Radio 2. Krish has expertise in the overlap between faith and development, faith literacy and communication. He is an ambassador for the UK aid and development charity: Tearfund.
