Another great guest for Paralympian Dan Greaves and Olympian Martyn Rooney.  This time it's 6 times Paralympic gold medal winner and 8 times London marathon winner Dave Weir.

Dave tells the guys he's in the best shape he's been for a long time and first the first time in ages he's really enjoying the sport again.

He talks honestly and openly about the mental challenges and depression he's faced, especially in recent years, and the counselling that he's had to get him back to this point.

And there's plenty of competition talk - through the distances - the London Marathon and the Paralympics including London 2012

Football is coming back! But before it does, Ben and Andrew take another dip into the Blades' past, this time heading back to the summer of 2013 and United's attempt at a footballing revolution under David Weir. It... did not go so well. But then Nigel Clough took over and it got better (at least, until it didn't). A season with 22 debutants, some fantastic memories, some rotten ones, and the arrival of Prince Abdullah as joint-owner of the club: lots to talk about, look out for Part 2 soon!

In our latest episode of Impacted, we’re exploring the world of textual analysis, social media and big data with David Weir, Professor of Computer Science at the University of Sussex. Research carried out by the Text Analysis Group lab, which David co-founded, revealed that anti-Islamic hate speech spikes on Twitter after acts of terrorism. This is just one of the many insights to come out of the Centre for the Analysis of Social Media, a collaboration between the University of Sussex and the think tank Demos, which uses Method52, software tools and methodologies developed by the Text Analytics Group.

Ever wondered what it's like to share a dressing room with big Duncan Ferguson and Tommy Gravesen? In part two, let David Weir take you into the inner sanctum of the Everton dressing room between 1999 and 2007. Listen to him break down the challenge of playing against the top Premier League strikers of that era and how his greatest test was facing rangy forwards like Freddi Kanoute and Paulo Wanchope. You'll also hear about David's take on stockpiling trophies during his spell at Rangers and that unforgettable run to the final of the 2008 UEFA Cup final, where the Ibrox side lost to Zenit St Petersburg.

Enjoy!

David Weir: Made in America

As a player, David Weir was bright, he read games brilliantly and his intelligence ensured that he enjoyed a long and successful career.

That career, in my eyes, was a boy's own story.

In this first episode, David claims that he was not good enough for professional football at 18 and so he left for the United States, becoming one of the elite players in the college game. You'll hear about his experiences across the Atlantic, as well as his time at hometown club Falkirk, and Scottish Cup glory at Hearts.

Enjoy!
