Natural baking, book deals and adapting formal patisserie training to create delicious nourishing recipes with Henrietta Inman.

We chatted to super talented pastry chef, cookery teacher and author Henrietta Inman about her two beautiful recipe books – each showcasing her personal take on baking using natural and nourishing ingredients. We loved hearing how Henrietta used her formal training and techniques to create a new style of baking with delicious wholegrains, brown sugars and seasonal ingredients. It was really interesting to hear about the process for each of the books and how they differ. We also learned about Henrietta’s multiple talents within the food world – involved with supper clubs, popups, charities, cookery schools and more (!) we cannot wait to see what she does next!

On Baking Without Borders with Henrietta Inman, "The Natural Baker"

This episode is with Henrietta Inman, pastry chef and cookbook author, talks with me about WHY she loves using untraditional baking ingredients (it's not just to be "healthy") and she also talks me through how her love of gardening and hosting people at her home has influenced her career. I learn the term "eaty-talky," she makes Zoolander references and we agree that social media somehow seems even more of a double-edged sword when you're self-employed. She talks us through her experiences writing her two cookbooks (her second, "The Natural Baker," just released). I hope you see from our conversation that although Henrietta has thrown out the rulebook of what a delicious baked treat can or should be, she uses her creativity, sharp baking skills and generous spirit to convince us all of her food philosophy. Thanks to Charlotte Hu for the extra motivation to start this podcast in the first place, and for sharing her words of wisdom with us all at the top of the episode. Follow her at @charlottehuco on Instagram. Follow Henrietta on Instagram @henriettainman to find out about her upcoming pop-ups and find "The Natural Baker" cookbook online. Chocolate Brownies & Fig Cake - Coming Back to Food with Henrietta Inman

In this episode I am breaking bread with Henrietta Inman. Henrietta is a pastry chef, author and cookery teacher, who specialises in whole and heritage grain baking. After graduating with a distinction from the Professional Patisserie Scholarship at Westminster Kingsway College she apprenticed at the prestigious 5 star Lanesborough Hotel in London’s Knightsbridge. She is the author of the book Clean Cakes and her second book, The Natural Baker, is released in March. In this episode we talk about the difficulties and controversies of applying the word ‘clean’ to food. She also opens up about having an eating disorder and how she is reconciling her relationship with food.

Henrietta is one of the gentlest, most self-effacing people I have every met and I found this conversation both brave and very touching and I am incredibly grateful to her for sharing part of her story with me and all of you.
