In the conclusion of the series, the desperation to find Susan grows as the investigation takes a secret route. Operation Tsunami entails wiretaps and a public event where Steve proudly declares he has a piece of evidence in his possession, little does he know it's a different piece of evidence that ends up being just the thing to put him behind bars. Steve is arrested on charges of felony voyeurism and possession of child pornography. Josh Powell loses custody of the boys as the family crumbles around him. On February 5, 2012, Josh Powell kills himself and his two sons in a shocking turn of events as he's having a supervised visit. Falling under the pressure of the investigation, Michael Powell, Josh's brother also commits suicide. The turmoil left behind also leaves a mystery as the Cox's try to pick up the pieces with no one left to answer the questions. The episode also entails some updates on the evidence obtained. TW: child murder, suicide
When Susan goes missing on December 7, 2009, all eyes are on Josh Powell. Together with the family and friends of Susan, the West Valley P.D. gather enough information to make Josh the main suspect, however, circumstantial evidence isn't enough. It appeared that every tactic used by the police was circumvented by Josh as frustrations grow with his lack of cooperation. Jennifer Graves volunteers to wear a wire and visit the now roommates, Josh and Steve. And when Steve is questioned about his and Susan's past, he paints Susan as a sex-starved woman who was in love with him. It seems the only witnesses may have been Susan's two boys, but with Charlie being the only one to really speak about it and being he was only 4, the police can't help but question whether or not he is a reliable witness. A segment of Charlie's first interview can be heard here, where he states "Mommy stayed where the crystals are." The episode closes with a 2019 update on Josh's whereabouts after taking his minivan back from the police with a tracker on it.
Abi briefly recaps the creepy harassment Susan's father-in-law put her through then continues with the early married years between Josh and Susan prior to children as Josh showed more of his selfish tendencies. Josh Powell had unexplained habits that cause Abi to develop a theory for how he felt about self-control and arousal. Susan is thrilled when they start their family with the births of Charlie and Braden however, her marriage continues to crumble. Steve and Terrica's divorce did a number on Josh and official statements from divorce documents cause alarm as the women apply his father's behavior to Josh himself. The episode closes with a drive-thru mishap that left Abi flustered yet feeling assertive.

Kentucky Fried Homicide
On the surface, December 6, 2009 looked like any other Sunday for the Powell family of West Valley City, Utah. Susan took her two young children to church. But life at the Powell house was anything but normal on that Sunday. First of all, Joshua didn’t cook… ever. And the neighborly visit from a friend?
