20. Thriller Author Jennifer Hillier, rage-typing, learning to take it book by book

Stories to Love

Welcome to Episode 20!My guest this week is  thriller author Jennifer Hillier. This in-conversation was recorded back in October, but with the backlog of episodes and my deadlines…well, you know the deal. I do have to say that the timing as this being the first in-conversation of the new year is pretty spectacular, a great  jump off point for us here because Jennifer is just…so so cool. I’m a fan of Jennifer’s work, from her first book, Creep. In this conversation we talked about her most recent so so riveting LITTLE SECRETS, reading and watching disaster and thriller works during the pandemic, about wanting to write about what happens behind closed doors, and needing a lot of space in between books.I do hope everyone’s hanging in there and staying safe, and getting your joys and inspiration in whenever you can.I appreciate all who have subscribed! If you haven’t, please do subscribe, and leave a rating when you can. If you’d like to support this podcast, please grab one of my books for you and a friend on my website at tifmarcelo.com

I’m also the author of Jar of Hearts (Minotaur). I was in born in Toronto, but I spent eight years in the Seattle area, which is where all my novels are set. I’m a Seahawks fan but I married a Packers guy. We have a young son who looks most like me when he’s crying. My favorite author is Stephen King (but whose isn’t?). I’m afraid of the dark and can’t sleep unless I’ve checked the locks on the doors several times. I love writing when it’s raining, sleeping when it’s sunny, and reading after everyone else has gone to bed. I cherish my family (those who read, and those who don’t), and my friends (those who write, and those who don’t). @copyrighted  Available on your favorite podcast app.

JENNIFER HILLIER - Jar of Hearts

Public Display of Imagination

She was born in Toronto, but spent 8 years enjoying the rainy comfort of Seattle. She has since returned to Canada, where she continues to root for the Seahawks, while her husband cheers for the Green Bay Packers. When it’s raining, she loves to write. When the sun is shining, she loves her pillow. When it’s dark, she’s double checking the locks on all the doors and curling up with a good book, most likely something written by Stephen King. In her own words, she writes about dark, twisted people who do dark, twisted things. In 2011, she released Creep... which comes with the warning, “he’s watching you...” In 2012, she released Freak, the follow up that had to be written. Both books are 5-star reads and cult favorites. In 2014, she released another very popular book titled, The Butcher. And in 2016, she invited her readers to Wonderland. Both were bestsellers, with hundreds of top-notch reviews.Today, we’re going to talk about her latest release, which just won the Int’l Thriller Award for Best Novel. Jennifer Hillier takes us on today’s Adventure as we talk about her latest thriller, Jar of Hearts.
