This week Anna is joined by Comedian and Writer, Juliet Meyers, talking about her rescue dog Homer. As a Portuguese rescue dog, Homer transformed Juliet’s world and we chat about how little by little Homer successfully worked his way to becoming the theme of her stand up comedy. Using her platform with comedy, Juliet chats about raising awareness for dogs, venues being dog friendly and of course the trials and tribulations of juggling a career with a wily street dog turned key comic effect. With a remarkable ability to read the room, and knowing when its his turn on stage, Homer has succeeded in alienating some, but in the main winning people over proving the realm of comedy is might indeed be going to the dogs! Celebrating Singledom - with Helen Thorn, Francesca Specter and Juliet Meyers
The Breakup Monologues with Rosie Wilby
To launch this brand new season, Rosie investigates and celebrates singledom. She speaks to Scummy Mummies podcaster Helen Thorn, who found herself suddenly single after twenty-two years of marriage just as the U.K. went into lockdown. Helen entered a sort of ‘separation boot camp’, filled with sad songs and sneaky fags at the back of the garden, in the absence of being able to hug friends. But she revelled in the liberation of reclaiming the house, spending quality time with her children and discovering, via online flirting and dating, that her sex drive had suddenly gone through the roof. Rosie also chats to author and podcaster Francesca Specter, who has coined the word Alonement in order to reclaim solo time as a joyful and precious thing a million miles away from loneliness, and to happily long-term singleton comedian Juliet Meyers. It's time for another dose of Drunk Women and this week comedian, Juliet Meyers -with trusty sidekick Homer (the worlds best dog detective) - joins Taylor, Catie and Hannah to sleuth their way through this week's crime, which is set in NEBRASKA of all places, plus there's a connection to a crime featured in a past episode. Juliet starts proceedings with sharing some past criminal activities, which could very well be down to needing a few more Spanish lessons .. although that's doubtful. We then round things-off with a listener crime against a mum's cardigan!DWSC have a Patreon page, with videos and extra content, as well as ad free episodes, take a look here:- patreon.com/drunkwomensolvingcrime Hosted on Acast.
