Female Leadership & The Awakened Woman with Nadine McNeil

Born to Rise

There is a new wave of feminine-oriented leadership happening around us. We, as women, have unveiled our sovereignty and stepped out of the shadows into all of our feminine power and fierceness --and we are truly forces to be reckoned with.  The female-centered approach to leadership, communication, collaboration, community, and connection is now the competitive edge, and my incredible guest is going to be speaking on this and more. In today’s episode, I’m talking to Nadine McNeil, yoga teacher, speaker, wisdom mentor, and humanitarian who ignites infinite possibilities in women, in humanity, and most especially within marginalized communities. During our powerful conversation, Nadine speaks on women not only stepping into their sovereignty, but women being out of their depths and how these can run parallel as women navigate their journey. She also gives profound insight on how to find your personal growth edge, why distrust of women stems from distrust in yourself, the creation of inner stories surrounding money and relationships, and what it means to claim the identity of a universal empress.  . In this episode, we cover: Empowering women to rise up and dismantling the idea of savior mentorship [2:02] How to bring leadership back into the body and listen [8:32]  Emergent themes of women stepping into their power [12:47] How to shift our conditioned view of women [19:28] Women rising into a bigger awakening [34:40] Connect with Nadine: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/universalempress/ Women’s Circle Training: https://www.womencircletraining.com/ Website The Royal Reset

Nadine McNeil: Spiritual Activism for Knowing Thyself

the Alt-Normal

Black History Month BONUS release drop! We remastered three episodes with prominent black expat leaders of the Bali community, centering on the intersectionality of consciousness, spirituality, activism and plant medicine. On this episode, we fearlessly bridge the worlds of spirituality and activism with the one and only, Nadine McNeil of Universal Empress. Her mission as a yoga teacher, speaker, wisdom mentor and humanitarian is to ignite infinite possibility in people around the world and share yoga with diverse underserved communities. She is the founder of the BadAsana Series ©: Yoga with Weights and long-time teacher at the Yoga Barn, the largest yoga and wellness facility in South East Asia. Prior to her deep dive into yoga in 2008, Nadine travelled the world in service of the UN, UNICEF, Global Volunteer Network and Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons for nearly two decades. These and other experiences rooted Nadine’s continued devotion to activism. Additionally, her globally expanding Women’s Circles are rooted in her mantra: when one of us suffers we all suffer. Yet when one of us heals, we all heal. This conversation was igniting on all levels, bridging the medicine of activism and spirituality into one potent conversation. Contrary to the perception that Yoga is all love, light and OM, Nadine shines a light on what’s typically overlooked — that for real change (and real movements) to happen, we must access our anger and injustice, the “most potent emotional frequencies in Dharma.” By reaching for the lessons within our fire and rage, we can then ignite transformation in the direction of justice, move beyond the “danger of the single story,” and collectively challenge what Reverend Kyodo Williams calls the “impoverished imaginations” of our times. With the Old World crumbling, humanity needs a new story that includes all voices and identities -- leaning gracefully into the complexity of who we are, not simply what’s perceived as “normal” or comfortable to face this existential crisis. Inspired by the work of Kyodo Williams, author of “Radical Dharma,” we cover wide ranging topics that centers spirituality as a force for activism, helping us show up in the world in our true Dharma and extraordinary differences. We travel landscapes far and wide, including:• As a woman who is “Jamaican by birth, Universal by outlook,” how Nadine claims her identity as one that was significantly shaped by a lifetime after leaving Jamaica at age 16.• What is actually dangerous about “the single story” and how she brings this concept alive in her own engagement with diversity.• After spending 22 years with the UN in emergency response and humanitarian stints, what broke the camel's back and inspired her on the path of Yoga.• What role can (and should) Yoga play in current COVID times of systems collapse, racial injustice explosion, and the collective sentiment of rage and violence worldwide.• Unpacking the “Democratization of Yoga,” what she describes as the removal of the illusion of elitism attached to the practice in modern times.• In response to Kyodo Williams’ TEDx talk where she famously declares, “I don’t want your love, I want your justice for the people of different ethnicities, cultures and countries,” what Nadine feels is the role of love in a time of violence (and whether Yoga requires that we love everyone).• How we can compassionately and gracefully transform violence into something of value for ourselves and community.• How to navigate the scarcity mindset as a person on the spiritual path who shows up in contribution, yet not always manifesting their highest financial abundance.• How Nadine transformed dwindling interest in online Yoga (on both sides) during COVID-times into abundance and “keen intuitive and observation skills to discern how [she] could best serve others.”• How culture needs to shift right now to break through our impoverished imaginations and hold more space for difference and diversity.Follow Nadine at https://www.universalempress.comMore about the show: https://www.digseedgrow.com/thealtnormal-podcastProduced by Resonance™, the creative practice of Dig | Seed | GrowThis show is hosted at Destination Outpost, a coliving and coworking community based out in Bali.

Lean In 42: Consciousness Rising; Stepping boldly into the full expression of yourself with Nadine McNeil

Lean In

Welcome to Lean In, a podcast that explores ordinary people’s extraordinary lives through honest storytelling. My guests share with me their journey of discovery, laughter, personal experiences and healing. If you are going through a change or challenging period in life, Lean In is the space where we can surrender to the cycle together. “We are all in the same storm, but we are not all in the same boat” this quote struck me from my conversation with todays guest Nadine McNeil as we were talking about the current global climate – pandemic, racial protests, war, refugee’s and everything else that we are dealing with currently. Despite what’s happening in our external environments it is absolutely crucial that we continue to do our own inner work, so that we can become the catalyst for collective change. Or as Nadine puts it “self love is the most radical form of activism right now”. Nadine McNeil, MA, is a yogini, humanitarian, transformation coach, and storyteller. Nadine’s career with the United Nations guided her towards yoga nearly 15 years ago as a necessary tool for self-care while serving in volatile areas of conflict. And now as a global yoga teacher and change maker her central message is “Consciousness Rising” – the act of stepping boldly into the fullest expression of self, thereby becoming a catalyst for collective change. Nadine presents at international conferences such as the BaliSpirit Festival and the Caribbean Yoga Conference, leads corporate workshops at companies and teaches at yoga studios across the globe. She also implements a variety of programs, classes and workshops for underserved populations, with past projects in the United States, Jamaica, Haiti and Africa, contributing, for example, to organizations such as the Africa Yoga Project. There are so many juicy elements to this conversation, get ready to bask in Nadine’s potent wisdom that comes through. We dive into; ● Growing up in Jamaica and how those roots have shaped her life ● The essence of being Jamaican that allows Nadine to share her pride and hold herself in a way that shows the world who she is ● How Nadine started working with the UN and what she learnt during her time there for over 15 years ● Exploring the “weight of her blessings’ during her emergency response and logistics in countries whilst working with the UN ● Knowing what our personal drivers are and being aware of them ● How a breakdown and burnout led Nadine to come to Bali and take an inventory of her internal world and what was important to her ● Teaching yoga in the ruble and trauma post Haiti earthquakes. How crucial breath is when we are going through a crisis of any scale. ● The healing potency of meditation and journaling ● How Nadine started incorporating yoga into her life and the changes it brought for her mind, body, soul ● The transition from part time yogi to world class yoga teacher ● Why yoga is “the way to the way” ● Self Love is THE MOST radical act of activism we can do right now ● Why we need to be the voice for the people that cannot use their own ● The self love journey and how we can stay committed to the path of honouring oneself You can find out more about Nadine and her incredible work; Nadine McNeil Instagram And….
