In this two-part episode we have a feature story with official badass Gabby Wennerstrom and we catch-up with writer/runner/coach David Roche to learn more about a recent article he wrote for Trail Runner Mag. Gabby Wennerstrom has steadily worked her way down from a 5:40 marathon all the way down to a 3:23. A remarkable feet that required nearly a decade of work and a boat-load of optimism. Gabby was committed to her goal of getting a BQ and, as she proved, it was simply a matter of when and not if. In the second part of the episode David Roche breaks down his recent piece, "Why Downtime May Lead To Breakthroughs: Fitness can seem to follow unpredictable patterns, with some of the biggest breakthroughs coming after layoffs. Why?" - https://trailrunnermag.com/training/why-downtime-may-lead-to-breakthroughs.htmlSponsors:This episode is brought to you by Four Sigmatic, a wellness company that mixes mushrooms and adaptogens with coffee, cacao, latte, protein powder. Ginger Runner LIVE
Coach David Roche is BACK to answer all of your running, training & racing questions. It's always a blast getting a chance to chat with David as we leave the shows feeling inspired & hopeful in our running journeys. Let's have some fun#GingerRunnerLive #DavidRoche #AskCoachRoche
David, along with his wife Megan, is an excellent runner, and a renowned coach ... and is he also the most positive person in the world? We asked four of his clients what they thought!"He is very high bandwidth -- making hundreds of runners feel like he's truly their personal coach.""I'd say he's the most enthusiastically and eternally optimistic person there is when it comes to his athletes."'He's a low-key savant. And a brilliant environmental lawyer on the side.""David helps so many athletes see their potential successfully; it really is incredible. Only 6 days a week with a full on rest day for all his athletes, which is far less intensity than I've seen; it is incredible how successful his program is."What are David's thoughts on 'rest' versus 'volume'? (You'll be surprised). And finally: "His perspective and aerial view on life and the world is cosmic. Sometimes I think he's living in the year 2500 and his 2020 avatar is just trying to correct all of our dumbass mistakes we're making today."

I'll Have Another with Lindsey Hein Podcast
Megan and David Roche of Some Work All Play coaching are on the show today and I can’t even begin to describe how much fun they were to record with. What an amazing duo! They are the authors of the popular book “The Happy Runner” and coach dozens of amazing runners around the World. She graduated from Duke University with a degree in Neuroscience and received her M.D. from Stanford Medical School. At Stanford, she is doing a PhD in epidemiology, focused on population health and genetics for athletes. Megan started coaching with SWAP in 2016 with the premise that she could help athletes learn to love the process of training, embrace their inner ninja, and recover using a Taco Tuesday approach. David is the 2014 USATF Trail Runner of the Year at the sub-ultra distance. He is a two-time national champion and three-time member of Team USA. He graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Environmental Science and received a master’s degree and law degree from Duke University.
