Remember John Hughes Films, but really, The State? (with Michael Showalter)

How Did We Get Weird with Vanessa Bayer and Jonah Bayer

We are overjoyed to have director, writer, actor, comedian and producer Michael Showalter on the podcast this week—who is also a director and executive producer of Vanessa's upcoming Showtime series "I Love That For You" which debuts April 29th. Full disclosure: we told Showalter that we were going to talk to him about John Hughes movies, but we ended up inundating him with questions about his beloved comedy troupes The State and Stella as well as what we refer to as "the Wet Hot American summer franchise." In that spirit, we also find time to share our summer camp experiences when we aren't poking fun of our hometown or learning more about Showalter's creative process. This episode also includes a lightning round of change.dork that sees our guest describing his perfect coffee blend in a detailed manner that we encourage you to recreate at home. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Recensioni CaRfatiche - Gli occhi di Tammy Faye (Michael Showalter 2021)

Recensioni CaRfatiche

Talking Jessica Chastain's 'The Eyes Of Tammy Faye' With Director Michael Showalter

Director Michael Showalter (The Big Sick, Search Party) joins the show to discuss his latest, The Eyes of Tammey Faye, starring Jessica Chastain and Andrew Garfield. Stick around for the bulk the show where we talk about Christopher Nolan shifting to Universal Studios for his next film following his apparent fallout with his long-time home at Warner Bros. The deal reportedly came with a laundry list of demands which will provide an interesting stress test for the future of the theatrical market. When Steven Spielberg drops a trailer, it’s worth talking about. His version of West Side Story is nearly here, and this latest trailer shows off the film’s gorgeous new look. This Week In Movies- Copshop- Cry Macho- Blue Bayou- The Eyes of Tammy FayeReelBlend PremiumSign up for an extra episode a week, a bi-weekly newsletter from Sean, and ad-free episodes at cinemablend.com/reelblendpremium.ReelBlend on YouTubeBe sure to subscribe to ReelBlend on YouTube (YouTube.com/ReelBlendPodcast) for full episodes of the show in video form. Follow The ShowReelBlend - @ReelBlendSean - @Sean_OConnell Jake - @JakesTakesKevin - @KevinMcCarthyTVGabe - @gabeKovacsReelBlend MerchWe have all kinds of fun merch for dedicated Blenders to flaunt their fandom with pride. “Truth & Lying” with Michael Showalter and Michaela Watkins

Search Party: The Podcast

The lines between truth and lies constantly blur on Search Party. And on this episode of the podcast, Michael Showalter explains how Dory’s inner reality is actually a conduit for the ways in which we lie to ourselves. Host Bowen Yang also helps unpack the motivations for those lies and how people can get rewarded for bad behavior both in our society and on the show. “I really wanted Polly to win because I want the truth to mean something,” says Michaela Watkins, who plays tough-as-nails prosecutor Polly Danzinger, about the outcome of the trial and the parallels it has with the larger cultural moment. There are also plenty of laughs—specifically, when it comes to the infamous “pancake” moment of the courtroom scene, which Michaela thinks is the funniest joke she’s ever read in a script.
