I Don't Like Mondays (or Fridays) with Andrew Mawson

Open Sourced Workplace

Post-pandemic, it’s clear that office workers around the world will be seeking substantially greater flexibility in determining where, when, and how they work. This is confirmed by Advanced Workplace Associates’ client studies and many surveys undertaken since the spring.  The data shows that the average employee would like to work 2-3 days a week at home. But this averaging masks a myriad of distinct options that we predict will be adopted by specific work teams and communities going forward.  In most organizations, these options will co-exist, with the potential of driving down commuting journeys and reducing the volume of office space required, all of which can reduce carbon generated by office workers by up to 26%. However, each of these options will place very different demands on the office and its capacity. If these are not managed well, buildings will be empty on Monday and Friday (days when workers prefer to stay home to extend their weekends) while office utilization will resemble Swiss cheese due to the pockets of empty space. Ep. 61: Workplace Week 2019 New York Celebrates Workplace Innovation & Creativity | Andrew Mawson - Advanced Workplace Associates

Workplace Innovator Podcast | Enhancing Your Employee Experience | Facility Management | CRE | Digital Workplace Technology

Andrew Mawson is leader and a founder of global workplace change consultants Advanced Workplace Associates (AWA). From a general management career in the IT industry, his unrelenting curiosity for the transition to new models of work led to the founding of AWA in 1992. Since then he has worked with some of the world’s leading organizations on their journeys to explore and implement new forms of working. He is responsible for the development of AWA’s change processes and methodologies which have underpinned the behavioral transition of over 70,000 people to new models of work. Through a number of evidence-based studies, he has developed a unique understanding of the factors that propagate high levels of professional performance. These research initiatives have driven him to the door of neuroscience, which he now believes holds the key to managing change and creating multi-faceted, multi-sensory workplace experiences that enable people to be the best they can be. Mike Petrusky asks Andrew about AWA's plans for Workplace Week in New York, with over a dozen site tours and fringe events taking place from June 24-28, 2019 that will benefit the "I Have a Dream" Foundation. Mike and Andrew discuss workplace trends across the globe as well as the importance of human experiences and change management that recognizes "people are people", a concept backed up by both scientific research AND the song by Depeche Mode!
