Leslie Holt’s Neuro Blooms project began with her mixed media paintings based on brain scans of people experiencing different mental health conditions. She was compelled by the beauty of PET scans, as well as their power to convey the brain’s role in mental illness.The pins and accompanying art spark conversations about the causes and stigmatizing myths surrounding mental illness. We discuss her art as well as the distinction between advocacy and awareness, good art teachers, engaging exhibitions, colour therapy and the fusion of science and art and what happens when they collide!
