Tunes & Tumblers Time Capsule: Mark Ronson and a More Than a Tease (feat. Liz Brownstein)
Pantheon - Home of Music Podcasts
For the month of August, we're going crate digging. To celebrate our partnership with Pantheon Podcasts, we'll be revisiting a few of our favorite episodes to showcase our incredible journey. Please time travel responsibly.--The Tunes & Tumblers team battle heartbreak in this week's episode, but instead of wallowing in the same old love ballads, they bust out the disco ball and dance through the pain with Mark Ronson's latest album "Late Night Feelings." Featuring a murderer's row of female vocalists, it gives voice to each shattered shard of a broken heart. The gang also welcomes their first guest, former bartender and alcohol purveyor extraordinaire Liz Brownstein, to bottle their heartbreak with their most evocative recipe yet. Cheers, lovelies! More Than a Tease 1 oz vodka 1 oz ginger liqueur 1 oz simple syrup 1 oz lemon juice 1/2 oz olive oil 1 egg white cracked pepper for garnish. Dry shake ingredients (no ice) for roughly 60 seconds. Add ice and shake again for another 30 seconds. Double strain into a champagne flute (or whatever’s on hand). Let stand for a few moments to let egg foam separate properly. Add black pepper on top to remember the “Pieces of Us” that remain now that we’re through.Episode Playlist: http://tunes.dance/spotify7Guest: Liz Brownstein - https://twitter.com/lizbrownsteinTheme Music by New New Girlfriend#Mood Jingle by Jacob Jeffries & Jesse McGintyTunes & Tumblers on Instagram Tunes & Tumblers on Twitter Tunes & Tumblers on Facebook Tunes & Tumblers on Spotify Call or Text the Tunes & Tumblers Hotline: (626) 604-6477Cover art by Pedro Isaac Chairez Learn more about your ad choices. Mark Ronson has a CV too long to list here. Suffice to say he’s a musician who’s worked with everyone from Amy Winehouse to Lady Gaga to Dua Lipa, has one of the highest selling singles of all time with Bruno Mars in “Uptown Funk,” and has been making just really good music since the turn of the millennium. He’s also the presenter of one of our all time favorite TED talks on the history of sampling, and he’s been continuing that journey of musical curiosity with the Apple TV show “Watch The Sound,” which explores the untold stories behind music creation and the lengths producers and creators are willing to go to find the perfect sound, and the FADER Uncovered Podcast, where he interviews artists ranging from David Byrne to HAIM. Today, Mark is the guest for another episode of Modern Classics, in which he brings Ginuwine’s classic 90s jam “Pony,” produced by Timbaland and Static Major, as an example of the ways that innovation and radical experimentation undergird even the biggest of pop smashes.
